Teaching
Parsons: Core 1: Interaction
I am currently teaching the UX design process to A.A.S. Communication Design students at Parsons School of Design. The students have each come up a concept for a digital product that serves a social good. They spend the semester learning user research, user testing, information architecture, accessibility principles, prototyping, branding, typography, and visual design.
The course is two days a week, with the second day, taught by Talia Cotton, focusing on projects based around HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
The class is a mix of lectures, in-class exercises, peer-to-peer critiques, and one-on-one meetings.
Students present their final projects to a small panel of industry professionals at the end of the semester.
Previously, I have taught Interactive/Web Design and Publication Design (online) in the A.A.S Graphic Design program at Parsons.
The class website—designed & developed by Talia Cotton—features the full class curriculum, along with readings, resources, and demos for students.
